Introduction
Installation is performed in two stages:
Ø Installation of the three software applications required for Dialogys MPF to operate. Set-up programs for these three software applications are on the DIALOGYS 0 CD-Rom. These software applications only need to be installed once; before Dialogys MPF is used for the first time.
Ø Installing the Dialogys MPF application. It is installed using the Dialogys MPF CD-Roms. Here is the list of all the Dialogys CD-Roms available:

Note:
Every Romanian set-up CD-Rom will have the extension " _RO". For example on the DIALOGYS 0 CD-Rom, the standard application is named "Install", however, the Romanian application will be named "Install_RO"
The following procedure has been written for the standard set-up program.
Warnings
· At least 100 Mega bytes must be available on the hard disk for minimum installation and 1.5 Giga bytes for complete installation.
· Before beginning the installation procedure, exit all other applications.
· The software must be installed using the following procedure:
- Acrobat Reader 5
- Java Run Time Standard Edition v1.3.1_04
- Quick Time 6
- Restart the work station
- Dialogys MPF
- Restart the work station
· Warning: Quick Time must be installed with the «Custom» (customise) (installation is described in the «Installation de Quick Time» (Installing Quick Time) section.
· If an installation fails, it will be necessary to «désinstaller» (uninstall) the parts of the program which have been copied onto your hard disk. For information on doing this, refer to the section on « Désinstallation » (unistalling) at the end of the document.
· Basic configuration: Pentium II 150 Mhz, Ram 32 Megabytes, ,Windows 95, 800x600 screen resolution (1024x768 recommended), Netscape Communicator 4.06 or Internet Explorer 4.0.
Checking the software applications to be installed
To find out which software applications need to be installed on your work station, carry out the following procedure:
1. Insert the DIALOGYS 0 CD-ROM into an available CD-Rom drive
2. Open Windows explorer

Check that all the following applications have a green tick: 1. 1.33 virtual Java machine 2. QuickTimeSoftware 3. Acrobat software 4. QuickTime for Java If they are all ticked, all the required software applications are correctly installed and you can proceed to the installation of Dialogys MPF. To do this, click on the [Suivant](Next)button. The MPF installation procedure is described further on. If they are not all ticked, it is advisable to exit the MPF start-up program and install the missing software applications. To do this, click on the [Annuler] (Cancel) button |
Stage 1: Installing Acrobat Reader
To start installing Acrobat Reader 5, insert the DIALOGYS 0 CD-Rom into your computer's CD-Rom drive, open Windows Explorer and carry out the following procedure:

Stage 2: Installing Java
The Java 2 operating environment start-up program Edition, v1.3.1_04 is also on the DIALOGYS 0 CD-Rom. From Windows Explorer, carry out the following procedure:

Stage 4: Installing Dialogys MPF
The following procedure uses the DIALOGYS 0, DIALOGYS 1 and DIALOGYS 2 CD-Roms to install the Dialogys MPF application. The DIALOGYS 1 and DIALOGYS 2 data can be installed subsequently but at least one of these two CD-Roms. must be installed.
1. Insert the DIALOGYS 0 CD-Rom into the CD-Rom drive
2. Open Windows explorer
3. Carry out the following procedure:

Note:
If the Dialogys - Information Complémentaire (Dialogys - Additional information) window displays the message: "You do not have enough disk space to install Dialogys". "Please defragment your hard disk to clear some memory space". Click on the Exit button. Then click on the [Terminé] (Finished) button to exit the start-up program, then delete the elements on your disk to clear disk space for Dialogys.
Once the disk space has been cleared re-start the start-up program and perform the previous procedure again.
4. Remove the DIALOGYS 0 CD-Rom from the CD-Rom drive.
5. Installing the DIALOGYS 1 data CD: insert the DIALOGYS 1 CD-Rom into the CD-Rom drive.
6. From Windows explorer, carry out the following procedure:

7. Remove the DIALOGYS 1 CD-Rom from the CD-Rom drive.
8. Insert the DIALOGYS 2 CD-Rom into the CD-Rom drive.
9. From Windows explorer, carry out the following procedure:

10. Restart your machine.
Procedure for unistalling a program
During the installation procedure, a fault may occur and stop installation. If this happens, it is necessary to delete the files which were copied at the beginning of the installation procedure.
Uninstalling the basic applications:
In the Windows "Start" menu, select "Settings" then "control panel", then carry out the following procedure:

And finally, the Java 2 RunTime Environment, SE v1.3.1_04-Supprimer window is displayed |
Click on the [Supprimer] (Delete) button |

In all cases, if the message " Uninstallation successful " is displayed, click on the [OK] button |
|
Uninstalling the MPF:
In the windows "Start" menu, select the "Program" menu, then the "Dialogys MPF" menu, and click on the " uninstall Dialogys MPF" application. The uninstall application runs, click on the [OK] button to uninstall or the [Annuler] (Cancel) button to exit the uninstall program.
Procedure for checking installation
Acrobat Reader
- Start the Acrobat Reader application either:
- by the Acrobat Reader 5.1 icon on the screen;
- or through the "Start" menu, "Programs", select the Acrobat Reader 5.1 application;
- When the application is first opened, in the «Contrat de licence du logiciel» (Software licence agreement) window, click on the « Accepter » (Accept) button.
- The application should start.
Java Run Time
In a DOS window, enter the command:
java -version
The following should be displayed:
java version "1.3.1_04"
java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_04-b02)
java Hotspot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_04-b02, mixed mode)
Quick Time
- Start the Quick Time Player application either:
- by clicking on the Quick Time Player icon on the screen;
- or through the "Start" menu, "Programs", "Quick Time" select the Quick Time Player application;
- The application should start.
